View Full Version : Mod Wheel jumps back to a low position when key is hit

Hi,
I use SC in Cubase SX 3.1 with Kompakt or Kontakt 2 (I'm testing both at the moment)
I'm stuck! When I hit a key on the keyboard (key down), the mod wheel in Kompakt as well as Kontakt2 always jumps back to a low position (approx to the first quater in the lower half). Why does this happen? And can it be stopped?
Any advice is highly appreciated! Thanks!
Rob

Hi Rob,
Do you have the latest updates?
In what situation does this happen? During recording, or monitoring with a record-enabled track? Do you have any Mod Wheel data recorded on that track already, and what is the automation write setting set to?

Hi, Sam,
I'm quite sure I do have the latest updates, which should be:
WB v1.1.2.
SC Kompakt: v1.0.9
The setup is as follows:
1 MIDI track
Wordbuilder as insert (I choose the proper tenor setup)
1 SC-Kompakt loaded with a Tenor multi (the 2nd from top in the drop down list)
The input comes from a keyboard (a Yamaha CLI 330 not having a mod wheel) via the 01X Yamaha mixer with mLan drivers.
Connections are fine, I can hear the choir sing a latin text.
So just the basic setup, noting special, I suppose, and working fine so far.
The mod-wheel-jump-back phenomenon happens whenever I strike a key on the keyboard. Whether the MIDI track itself is on record mode or not does not make any difference. Also, the track itself is totally empty.
I can play a note/chord - the mod wheel jumps to it's position 1/4 from the bottom of the whole mod wheel range; while holding the chord I can play around with the mod whell using the mouse, but as soon as I change the note/chord, the mod wheel again jumps back to it'S low 1/4 from bottom position.
It does not jump back on the note-off event, but on the note-on; note-off actually doesn't change anything on the mod wheel.
The same thing happens when I use Kontakt2 as VST: there the mod wheel also jumps back to a "first-quater-position".
I wonder what I'm doing wrong...
Thanks for your help, effort, and time!
Robert
