With all the new Choirs users coming (due to the group buy), I think that maybe the Votox DB should be brought back. I feel a larger community of users - especially ones who frequent this forum - would make that a useful endeavor again.

Thoughts?

Just a few more samples would help heaps I am certain.

I am having for example great difficulty selecting the VOTOX equivalents without extensive repetition and experimentation and even then it is not all going well for some words for me. Surely examples that can be dissected have got to help us newbies?

I'd like to friendly +1 this one. I ordered SC in group buy and would like to be set when it arrives so I can minimize the hassle and start making music with it as soon as possible. Did such a Votox DB exist at some point? Are there any Votox resources somewhere in the net? The basic letters and the video tutorials are the only ones I've found so far...

On a related note, is there a way to reproduce the German "ch" as in "ich" or "pech" with SC?

Sam, any thought on reviving the votox DB, or do you feel that would just be a wasted effort?

We have a set of latin phrases that comes with WordBuilder. These can be very helpful resources for learning votox, along with the videos we've posted, the FAQ entries, and the manual.

This forum can also be used to share files with other users. Unfortunately, not many people were using this forum topic or the database for that purpose (it really became a tech support branch). I'm including an attachment to this post with all of the phrases that were in the old database, so that they're available again for use.

I encourage people to post tech support questions in the tech support forum, and keep this forum for the free exchange of Votox ideas and choirs techniques.

I hope I am on the right thread... I think the idea of an online Votox DB is great. Maybe I could be of some help with putting something like this online. If there are enough users interested...

In the meantime...:o
I can't seem to get the pronounciation of the "ur" sound right in conquer and leader
Futhermore, the i sound in "I will" is hard I think

Anyone any ideas?

I found VOTOX surprisingly easy to learn on the basic level. Some tweaking is always needed, though, as one would usually have to program the same words differently for different voices and also in different musical setting.

For "will", I think I'd start with wEl and work from there.

Some other notions I've made during my first few days with the Choirs and Votox:

- If a word ends with "s", the fast way to make the last "s" more audible is to doudle it by adding SS (Votox) in the end.

- The Votox C! does pretty good job estimating the German "ch" sound, although some tweaking is often needed. I also got pretty good results by doubling it with an r with lower volume.

- I've been trying to replicate the sound of Ö and so far the best approximation I've come up with is Ue (crossfaded) but it's not quite there yet.

Does anyone have any tips for sound of Ä? The Votox A is in the right direction but not quite... Votox Ae (crossfaded) is also close but not quite...

@jeeptwister: for "conquer" or "leader" I'd try the aforementioned approach with Ö. Try Uer in Votox but make the crossfaded Ue part really short, almost inaudible. You could also try crossfading the r.

I am only a newbie but have you tried 'rr! '
Or perhaps r!r! or any mixture say even r!r or r!r!r

I would try as many options as possible of course!

If one helps can U advise us all please?

Hello,

To make a phrase, you can select any amount of text and use the item from the phrases menu. There's also a new phrase from file option in this menu that you can use with .cho and .voi files. Choose this option, then select the .cho file you want to convert.
