Well.. I might as well start. Let me say that this word building stuff is very addictive, and should prove a very impressive tool.

I'm having trouble getting the sound of this type of A

"Anne"
"Annoying"
"Ancestor" etc...
"thANks
"tAnks

Any ideas? :)

ps: Nick and Doug... this is some serious stuff you have brought upon us. Kudos :)

Ok... seems "e" is what I have found comes closest. Anyone up for making it sing Ancestor? How would that be done? I figure thats a relativly hard one

You could do this a couple of different ways, depending on what technique you wanted to use. To do it with long, dark vowels (classical voice), type this in your Votox section:

an-Se-SToOr

With classical voice, the spread A-Votox (as in "apple") doesn't sound like an "a" in the audience at all. Well, it sounds like something, but nothing good. :) Elongating to an "aw" (a-Votox, like "o" in "on") sounds much nicer.

Alternatively, you could stick a small bit of A-Votox on the lift of the first syllable to create a subtle dipthong that's a little less 'uptight' and more natural. Since the computer lacks the discipline problems inherent in a human choir, the extreme "an" without the "A" dipthong component probably wouldn't be as necessary. :)

aAn-Se-SToOr

Just make sure the A-Votox is on the "off" section, layering above the "n".

Keep in mind that similarly spelled "A"s do not sound alike. "Anne" would be (VOTOX) "An" while the "A" in "Annoying" is more like "u-noE-EEng". "Thanks" is still different - more like ""T!iEnKS".

I would do "Ancestor" like this: "An-SeS-Tor" or "An-SeS-Ter"

Of course, this all depends on where you want your choir to be from. Here in the south, it might be more like "iE-yAn-SEE-yeS-ToO-er" or maybe just "KEn".
