I have a non east-west question but you guys were so knowledgeable on helping me choose Symphonic Silver pro last week (we love it!!), that I was hoping you might have an answer to a kind of general PC-to-MAC Pro Tools question I have. I could not beleive how quickly you all answered me and I'm kind of in a bind right now, so......

I have a PC PTLE 7 system and need to get the song files to a mixer who is using a PT LE 7.1 on a Mac. We used Roxio's drag-to-disk to create a DVD-R and we drove 100 miles to deliver it. Today, we find out that the mixer, while he can "see" the files on his Mac, sees file sizes are smaller than they should be and he cannot upload them to his Mac.

So, I need to know two things, 1) is there something on PTLE that we have to do to the files before saving them to DVD to make them compatible, and 2) what is the proper method of burning the files on DVD from a PC that a Mac will be able to read?

I'd like to just make one more 100 mile (and back!) trip.

Thanks!!!!

P.S. I really apologize to the moderator if I should not have posted this here.

Just a guess, since I don't use pro tools, but are you sure you saved the "whole" project onto the dvd? Most programs will also save data (like audio) into other folders in the same directory, and reference them when the file is open. You might have just burned the main file itself onto the dvd, and not the other files it references, hence the smaller file you saw. Check and see how to save an entire project in pro tools. Hopefully someone else might be able to offer some more advice. Best of luck.

Make sure you are burning ISO 9660.

It could have been a bad disk. Though I have seen alot of mac DVD drives not read certain DVD brand of disks or have access trouble.

Like if your PC is a DVD+R, some older mac DVD's will not read the +R disks.

Also, makes sure to finalize the disk. Don't leave it open to burn more to it.
That could be another problem.

AFA PT is concerns, since 7 there is no MAC/PC switch anymore. It works either way.

I have never been a fan of the Roxio software. Buggy and unstable.
Try the builtin Windows burner:

To copy files and folders to a CD
Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD recorder.
Open My Computer.
Click the files or folders you want to copy to the CD. To select more than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file, Copy this folder, or Copy the selected items.
If the files are located in My Pictures, under Picture Tasks, click Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD, and then skip to step 5.

In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then click Copy.
In My Computer, double-click the CD recording drive. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD. Verify that the files and folders that you intend to copy to the CD appear under Files Ready to be Written to the CD.
Under CD Writing Tasks, click Write these files to CD. Windows displays the CD Writing Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

No built in burner for DVD's, just CD's.

There are options on the ISO9660, namely "Joliet" and max number of chars of 13 or 31. Know about them? There are other various options too.

I'm making copies with Nero too now.
