Hi,
(sorry for multiple posts):o :o
Just installed Kontakt 2.2 crossgrade from Kompakt.(on Mac G5 OS X Ver 10.4.8)

I can use Kontakt in standalone and in Logic but not Protools 6.9.2.
it does'nt see Kontakt at all,Kontakt does'nt show in insert/instruments menu.
I have looked in FAQ here and at NI did'nt find anything.

Is there a way to make Protools see Kontakt.?
Is it a version compatability issue re Protools 6.9.2?
Is there something to be aware of in set-up/installation regarding protools?

(I know these are not EW products but this is usually the most helpful forum.)

Thanks,Dean.

Hi Dean ,

I'm not quite sure , but maybe your problem occurs just in ProTools 6 , because
this is not an Universal-Binary Application.
This sounds completely stupid , but maybe this is the reason why your "old" pure PT 6 PPC-Version doesn't recognize the new Universal-Binary version of Kontakt2.2 .

I'm using PT 7.1 (which is UB ) and Kontakt 2.2 ( which is UB ) and have no Problems.

Best regards

Gerd

I am thinking that you need to upgrade to at least 7.0, as version 6.9 is not necessarily supported on 10.2.8, or possibly the newer version of k2

I'm on Pro Tools as well, 6.9 on Mac 10.3.7.

I can't use very many instruments from platinum before I get delays of 10-15 seconds from time to time while the computer looks at me.

I have been reluctant to upgrade until I know the hassle will be worth the reward.

Gerd, and anyone else, how many instruments can you have loaded in your G5 on PT without any significant issues?

Hi Steve,

I'll try to check this in the next 8 days.

I usually use ProTools for mixing my Orchestral-Stripes (Ww Stage mics / Surround Mics; strings Stage mics / surround mics;brass etc...) that I've bounced in Logic, because the summing is much better in PT (... at least when you have a big arrangement).

In ProTools I simply add some little additional elements ( ... some extra cymbal; belltree; a deep WagnerTuba
or whatever if I think it's necessary ). So actually I've never loaded more than five or six articulations within
one KONTAKT instance.

Usually you shouldn't use all three mic sounds of one articulation at the same time.
Just load the Stage mics , bounce the arrangement ; then load the surround mics , etc. ... .

I'll try to check how much articulations I can load in PT and then I'll let you know.
(I'm very busy in the moment , so don't expect an answer before the upcoming Monday (Febr 5th))

Best regards

Gerd

Hi Steve ,

I've loaded one of my KONTAKT Presets (2GB) with EWQLSO sounds - that I'm using within Logic -
into PT , and although I could load it , it was nearly impossible to record any MIDI sequence,
because of the delay-effect that you've described in your post.

Using PT for MIDI sequencing is from my point of view a real pain anyway,
but until now I never ran into this kind of problem, because I've used PT just
the way I described it above.

Here's the way I work , and maybe it is also a possibility for you:
In Logic I arrange and bounce "orchestral sections stripes" : Strings F mics , S mics ; Brass F mics , S mics ; ... .

Then I import everything into ProTools and mix the sections and Mic Positions, sometimes I'm using
a SonyOxford EQ - which has a neutral sound - to cut off some deep frequencies if necessary ( ... especially of the C mics ... ).

Best regards

Gerd
