This one is from when I only had Silver, but there's a lot more than the orchestra going on there anyways.. :)

This uses solo platinum instruments. It's somewhat inspired by the nusic of George Crumb, Toru Takemitsu, and Gunther Schuller.

Sorry if it does not invoke their music, but I guess the roots of my inspiration are quite obscure. There's certainly no quoting going on, but I thought the ensemble setting would allude to them, particularly to Crumb and Takemitsu.

Some chamber works I had in mind: Crumb's Microkosmos III (for 2 pianists and 2 percussionists), Schuller's Contours (for orchestra) and a range of Takemitsu chamber works ((Stanza 1, Sacrifice, RIng, Valeria). Again no quoting. Just a source of inspiration.

Thank you tchovy!

Stormdrum for the beginning toms and a lot of things not of EWQL :) (only because I didn' t get colossus yet! :D )

The piano is The Grand from Steinberg, the elettronic kit is a loop made with some free 909 samples, the bass at the beginning is syntetized (looped from the demo version of arturia's minimoog), some of other things are free sounds...

This is what I remember, since I made this piece a lot of months ago :)

Thank you. :)

Famous horror composers? Well those that are in my playlist right now are Bernard Herrmann, Marco Beltrami, Elliot Goldenthal, Brian Tyler... there are most certainly many more but I personally find myself very inspired by those I mentioned.

In classical music you might find the more avant-garde stuff like Krystof Penderecki (spelling?) inspiring (you can actually hear a lot of Penderecki-style in Elliot Goldenthals music)

Sorry for spamming the thread with 2 mp3-url's on a single day, but I remembered having used more EWQL -stuff in another piece, although with quite compressed sound:

http://www.student.itn.liu.se/~sebaa241/musiktemp/Albanian%20Gladiators_256.mp3

A demo-test of gameshow-music. Supposed to be tongue-in-cheek-ultra-american-style (...the electric guitar).

I think I went a little bit too far as it sounds more like espn sports-network than something for a gameshow.

Hmm.. it's been a while since these cues were made, except for strings and glockenspiel which is recently added from ewql gold.

Voices is from symphony of voices (downpitched on some spots), the brass is project sam brass layered with ewql-gold brass at some points.

Uhm... a lot of effects are from various percussionsamples which has been pitched several octaves and played in reverse. Some "tensionbeds" is made from high violin trills which has been downpitched several octaves. ... There are a great number of free samples I believe but I honestly don't remember what I did to them - I sometimes do a bit of sound manipulation...

And some compression... Its currently lacking in the higher frequencys, I'll probably remaster it someday.

Hey guys, this is a work in progress, and i need some ideas of how i should progress this. It's Orchestral at heart, but i added a synth lead, a synth bass, and a hip hop beat. The synth lead and bass is Spectrasonics Atmosphere, and the perc is Spectrasonics Metamorphosis. I did an improv solo with the lead, i think it sounds cool. so any help would be awsome! thanks! http://www.cmilldesign.com/billy/oneilio/organic.mp3

I like it. I too have a love for a slightly theremin lead synth sounds :)

For ideas about how to progress... my first thought is that the first interval leap in the synth line gives the whole tune an optimistic/heroic quality that can give opportunity to build into something truly dramatic. Sometimes I get ideas for the ending of a song from the beginning of it. The string-chord progression that modulates into the riff is great, and something similar might be used to build into that über-drama moment later on...

Might turn into something really good this one...

Hey BMoody. Overall, i think this track is pretty cool. That first synth i didn't like, though. It sounded like it had too much res in it. The beat: The BD is really heavy and the snare just doesn't seem to pop enough. You can increase the 8000hz range in the snare to fix that. Bass...where is it? I was expecting to hear an offbeat bass, or a sub bass, but all i heard that incredibly hard hitting BD, maybe alittle TOO hard hitting. The 2nd synth that comes in is better than the first, i like it. The riff is really cool too. I think overall, the song is lacking though. You don't have beat variety, very little synth variety. No change in keys, not really even a set chord progression (not that every song needs one, but you know). It's just a bit minimal for me. It's a cool groove though.

This uses EWQL choirs and platinum percussion exclusively. It was inspired by Stravinky's "Les Noces," but it doesn't sound like it at all.

It's pretty rough around the edges (and perhaps in the center).

Track = Kickin!!!!

Guitar sound = Rockin!!!

Except that personally, I'd add a brighter guitar sound when it's the featured instrument. When it's mixed with the rest of the track, it's great!

I did this just to see how it would sound if I didn't go for the symphonic metal feel, rather an electric guitar concerto, somewhat like Malmsteen (except for that I haven't played for years, and even then I was nowhere near his skill) :)
So, I know that there are lots of imperfectness in the guitar track, but seems I forgot everything. The point was would Gold play well with an electric guitaras the solo instrument? I think it does.

The El.Guitar sounds great! :)
And I really like what the guitar is playing. Great lines!
Nice phrasing. Especially, like the Solo that starts from about 1min10sec.

Oh, btw, what patch from Storm Drums did you use for the snares ?

This is a punk/metal tune i did using,,

BFD kicks snares toms hats
DKFHS cymbals (East West :D
Trilogy bass
Pod 2.0
I programed everything, and played
a PRS Mcarty electric guitar.
Lots of UAD powered plugins everywhere.
Many 1176 LN 's.

My roomate wrote the words, and sung it. He's in
a regional rock act, and was perfect for this.
(nice to have a rock singer in the house!)

Its a "would be" X-games cue. so i put some video over it
using some Xbox game stuff i captured, just for fun.

RA has some excellent sounds for authentic bluegrass.

In this clip i play my CA steelstring acoustic in front of 2 Shure SM-81 condensor mics.

Banjo, Mandolin, Dobro, and Jawharp are all RA.
Snare, Hi hats, cymbals from DKFHS (East West/Toontrack)
The standup Bass is Trilogy. (what else? ;) )

Kept it real intimate, no verb. Just the natural ambience in the samples.
The guitar is totally dry.
Amazing what having just one real track in the mix can do.
Really brings everything to life. :D

very good low-priced mic's are Studio Projects C1, Rode NT1A, SE electronics (forget the name)
These have large membranes, and are often used for vocals.

They are excellent value for money, so worth checking out :)
