Hi I am new to this site. I purchased some of east werst cds from Paris and would like to purchase a few more.

I would like to start with a basic question about accessing sample cd-roms. I have quite a few of these disks and have a small home studio with two PCs networked to each other. I also have a third general purpose PC on the same network and an office laptop.

Since I work with samples, obviously I have to keep loading them onto my sequencer continuously. It is really painful to search for the disk and then search the sample and finally load it - by this time I would have already lost 50% of my creativity.

I searched on the internet for a solution but most were expensive. Kintronics says > $2000 or so for cd-rom towers / servers.

Is there no way of building one in a stack? And then use a commercial software for sample management?

I shall be obliged to hear from anyone willing to help.

You seem to mean CD-ROMs that don't get copied to a hard disc as part of the installation? - unlike, for instance, a sampled orchestra that won't work unless it's copied to a hard disc.

Can't you just copy the files manually to a hard disc and use them from there?

Thats what i do,
I have my entire Sound-Ideas SFX library copied to my hard-drive and have a "sample search" program that came with the library, presto!
