Hello All

I am planning to buy Platinum orchestra, Colosus and Symphnoic Choir.

Any help about setting up tow or more PCs to run all smoothly? What are the software and hardware needs?
Thanks a lot

-----------
My current system:
Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 2Gb RAM, 160 Gb HDD, XP Pro SP2.
Cubase SX
Creamware Pulsar Audio Card (ASIO)
Garritan Personal Orchestra and several other VST instruments
M-Audio Studiophile monitors
Soundcraft Spirit 8 mixer

FX-Teleport works great here. A bit of a hassle to set up, but once it was, it works fine with no hitches. Only $99 US for one license, not bad, IMHO.

I've been thinking of this for a while. With FX teleport, would that put K2 as a VST or Stand alone on the slave machine? Also, do I have to copy all of my libraries over to the slave machine or does it just stream from the same drive as always (the machine it's on now which would be the master) over the network? Does it recall all instruments with each project? Or do you use it with templates? Thanks for the help.

Wow, thanks for the tip on the FX teleport.
I couldn't wait and downloaded the demo. I installed some instruments in the slave machine, just as VST, no other application or DAW needed.
Run FX teleport on master and slave and it worked! I could recall the plugins from my DAW.

I am not sure how it would work with libraries, but I guess the whole purpose of having an extra computer is to use its extra resources, so I guess you would need to move the library to the other hard drive on the slave computer.

Any more tips will be aprreciated.:p

So many questions....so little time...LOL

1) VST
2) Yes - you need to copy all of your libs over; the samples DO NOT stream from "the same drive as always"
3) Yes
4) Yes

For the copying of libs, bear in mind you need to do a full install on the slave. This is a bit of a PITA, and time consuming, but it works. And, you have two licenses for the EW libs, and for K2, so this is not an issue. First, you need to install K2, and register it. Then, you need to get your EW DVD's out. Remember what you did when you first installed the EW lib? Well, now you get to do that all over again - from scratch! YAY for you!!!! What you can do, is install only what you will need on the slave. What some people have is Master: strings and percussion, Slave: woodwinds and brass. That is one way to go; I have everything on both machines.

Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Cheers.

Interesting..

Jeff, After your configuration, what would you say is the percentage of performance boost ?

Can you give an example of a before/after comparison?
Is there an area of the greatest improvement?

Thanks for any info.

From one Jeff to another (sorry, couldn't resist!) I have no clue what you mean by percentage of performance boost. ???? You mean my own performance? Umm, yeah - my writing skills improved vastly. Yup. Did. Uh-huh.

Does that mean that FX Teleport has fixed the problem with Kontakt not loading as a VST? I still can't get it to load on my server machine in my teleport set-up. I have been trying to add an additional machine to a 1 master, 1 slave set-up, and have had no luck. Unfortunately, there is no technical support from FX-Max. If you register for the FX-Max forum, you get access to an additional set of posts about Teleport problems...the thing is thaht the moderators have not written aby responses in what appears to be months...My questions have gone unanswered for weeks there now.

It is disappointing, because Teleport is an amazing tool if it works for you. If it doesn't work, you can get stuck in network limbo....

Never knew a problem existed. It works here; I canload several instances of K2 w/multis on both machines simul. Are you sure you have the Master FX-T on your master machine, and the Slave FX-T on your slave machine? What exactly happens when you try to load Kontakt? Do you get an error?
