hi,
i was just wondering if anyone out there had any info on how to connect multiple computers for running EWQLSO Platinum.....i have a delta 1010 audio interface and am soon to have many computers.....i have only one computer right now and it hardly does the job needed for this software. however, as said i will be getting more computers very soon - so can anyone tell me where i can get some literature on what i need in order to connect all of them to run Platinum smoothly and with no problems....i am more interested in having soundcard's and the like than using LAN to send midi.....does anyone know where i can read up on this and get DIAGRAMS as to how to go about this...
thank you,
JOSHUA.

Hi Joshua
I am doing the same myself. First check the answers I got in my same question>
http://www.soundsonline-forums.com/showthread.php?t=7232
I decided to install an audiocard in every slave machine, and use MusicLab MIDI OVER LAN (musiclab.com). It works really well. FX Teleport had too much latency when loaded with samples.
I run Cubase SX3 as the host.
Hope this helps;)

what kind of sound card do you have for each computer? can you explain to me a little how the musiclab midi over lan works and how it is set up? so if i have my midi going from my midi keyboard into my delta 1010 audio interface i need to run what midi wise to each machine to split ewqlso up onto different machines? and obviously it is LAN so how is this routed to each PC? and how do they get sync'd so they play back at correct speeds and what not? i use cubase sx 3 as well -
thanks.

Hi again
I wish I had the same kind of soundcard on every computer, but for now I have different: I have a Creamware Project, a MOTU PCIe 424 with 2408mk3 and a RME HDSP 9652.
As for MIDI over Lan, it's preety easy. You install it on every machine. Then you will see 16 new MIDI MOL ports. In any computer, every port can be configured to either send or receive MIDI on any channel. That's a total of 16x16=256 MIDI channels in the smallest version, and there are bigger licences.
In Cubase, you select a MIDI track and set its MIDI out to any MOL port you want, and that's it.
a) One example of my setup: In the host computer, i configure MOL port 5 to transmit to computer#2. On computer#2 I configure MOL port 5 to receive.
b) On Cubase in the host computer, I open a MIDI track, name it "Vlns1 Leg" (or whatever) and set its MIDI out to MOL port 5.
c) On computer#2 I open Kompakt as standalone and in the setup I set it to receive on MOL port 5.
d) Load "violins" on the kompakt and it's working. Furthermore you can select any midi channel for that track, so you have 16 available channels in that MOL port.
The examples here are very clear: http://www.musiclab.com/products/rpl_info.htm
Download the free trail and try it.
Hope it helps

excellente!!!!
so you just get a good router and network your computers together and then install this software and it reads it via the network....??.... so it is reading it over ehternet cables? is that right? am i getting that correct? i found a link to the manual for this as well @ - http://www.musiclab.com/products/molmanual/MolCp3.pdf
also can they send you the physical product? or is it only over the internet in software form? i would much prefer to have the disk and stuff if i am going to have to pay 300 bucks. what is the difference between the platinum and the standard?
if i was going to connect 10 computers say -- i would just network them all with ethernet cables through the router....and then install that software and it would be able to run all 10 computers?? - the reason i ask is because i have a ton of software and some needs to be, sometimes, run on its own machine...its own hard drive. so you would just link them all up and the repeat 10 times your description of connecting 2 of them together?
thanks,
JOSHUA.

That is correct, it will work over the ethernet cables.
I don't know if they send a physical product, but I don't worry about that, i mean, it would only be a $1.00 CD. I downloaded the software and burned a backup CD with the registration and payment info.
And yes, for 10 computers you'd do the same, The thing is you would have to buy more licenses, or a license for 10 computers. I have sent email to musiclab staff and they respond fast. supportbox@musiclab.com
Share how it worked for you

- well first i should say i was looking at getting this cisco switch - but do you think i should get a switch or a router - as far as midioverlan working better with a switch or a an actual router?
the reason i ask is because i have had both in the past and got different results with each - but being that i have never used midioverlan -and you have ---(wink wink ) -lol- ---which works better in your opinion?
is their any special way or place to put Cubase ? is it best to put it on the master machine and master hard drive in that machine? or are there other ways and places you can put cubase to get better optimal results? -

...FX Teleport had too much latency when loaded with samples...
I have loaded 2 instances of EWQL SO Gold both full on each of my 2 slave machines and an instnace of Real guitar 2 with a large sample loaded over FX teleport and not noticed any lag. The system behaved as far as I could tell jsut like the VSTi's were running localy.
If FX teleport is setup correctly, and the network is setup right (Gigabit cards and hub, static IP's and full duplex enabled on all network cards) then it works fantastically most of the time.
