Once I load CUBASE SX every note I play somehow sounds chipped off... likes its been truncated.
Any idea what makes this happen?
Grazie!
Christian
sorry I dont use cu-base also you did'nt mention what library you are using,I presume EW orchestra,
Could be a lack of voices allocated for the samples, not enough voices will cut off the release trails, giviing that clipped cut-off effect,or check DFD setings too many samples streaming from disc can also create the same effect.

HI DeAn,
Any suggestions on how I could check how voices allocated to samples?
Sorry for the ignorance!
Christian
I'm not familiar with Cubase SX so hopefully someone will chime in and help you re settings.
It would help to give more information re the following;
Do you use Kompakt or Kontakt?
Which version of Cubase SX do you use?
What EW library do you use?
What system are you using,Mac or PC?
How much RAM is installed?
Are you using DFD function?
Are you loading all samples into RAM?

Got it
:D (You can tell I'm only a sort of dumb pianist!)
I'm using CUBASE SX (vers 3.1.1)
EWQL products with KOMPAKT
I'm using a PC (Win XP) with an AMD Dual Core OPTERON Processor 175 2.21GHz with 2 GB RAM
DFD is active with default settings, as follows:
Preload Buffer Size 192 KB
Voice Buffer Size 384 KB
Reserved Voices 64
Mem Total 24.00 MB
I guess that If DFD is active by default it doesn't load into RAM?
It's fine when I play an instrument as a standalone.
When I load it within SX, i face the issue - every sample is chipped off AND poliphony seems to be limited...
Thanks for any ideas!
Christian

Christian,
try the folllowing to see it works.
Go to Cubase
Devices ->Device setup - >VTS audio Bay, or the next one.
Click on experet.
See the latency you have and the buffer for samples.
do a test, see if it fails sync. If it does then the problem is there!
Toy around there for a little while and see if you can make this sync test work. Then try again the samples, with hopes that it will work...
Other than that I don't know what to propose.
I use SL3, instead of SX3 but this is hardly a problem I reckon...
