How can I make a passage from ff to pp, for example on only one note of strings, without using the volume control of Digital Performer?
I think It would be much more real because the sound of the strings change if I play ff or pp.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you're asking - I think you're asking how to change timbre of the sound over time to reflect the change in volume of a note.

I don't know if you can do this in the Kompakt player, but certainly in Kontakt, you can apply an EQ that is mapped to a controller that follows the contour of the volume control.

I am currently using aftertouch to control crescendoes and diminuendos. I can add an EQ and map the gain of the EQ to aftertouch. I also map volume to aftertouch. When I apply pressure my patch gets louder and brighter. If I reduce the pressure it gets quieter and softer.

There are probably more suitable controllers to use than aftertouch... volume pedal, expression or even breath control would work well if you have these controllers.

CC#11 (Expression) is generally used to control volume on non-dynamic patches. For the most realistic results, though, load up a MODXFD patch (for example: 18V SUS VIB DXF) and use the mod wheel on your controller to change the volume and timbre (or use CC#1, Modulation, if you don't have a controller).

Thanks, I will try with MODXFD, bur I don't know what is CC#11

You should be able to use MIDI envelopes to alter volume, panning, etc. in your sequencer. Enable a MIDI envelope and set it to CC11.

Hi Nicola,

For using CC#11 In DP, from the "sequence" window, just select the midi track you are working with and go Insert>Controller> 11 Expression. You can then draw it using the pencil tool from your tools menu (studio menu>tools).

I am not sure what software you have, but I have EWQLSO Platinum and their is actually a ppFF patch - I believe it is in trumpet(s).
