Just curious what patch one uses for really fast string scale lines that should not sound too distinct -- like when you see the players really sawing away at 16th notes more than you hear them. The spiccato patches work well for fast rhythms but not really for fast runs; the run simulator seems too mushy to me.

Anyone have any good tricks to share? Shouldn't there be a fast version of QLegato? I've heard that some people double with a trill or tremolo patch to get a more authentic looseness.

Thanks,
JD

It's a good question!
Yes, I've tried doubling with the tremolo. I think fast runs are actually problematic. Even in the best demos on the EW pages these are not very realistic.

Right-tee-o. We've actually just hired performers and sampled fast string scale lines ourselves since we were never really happy with any sample library in that dept. So sampling them ourselves has filled that void. :/

In 18 Violins > Effects > Slr articulations > fast / med /slow /xfast ,these slurred artics work very well for ultra fast runs ,if you want a more agressive bowing effect you can also layer a hint of the 11Violins > Effects > '11 Violins scratching' articulation, also try layering a hint of 11 violin thrills aswell.
with some work re Vel/attack/release etc you can get very realistic results.

I've tried this: it's a good suggestion. I never used it.

I'll have to give that a try.

The best still is recorded runs. I have a series of runs I programmed that I can control the speed as well.

It locks to Midi clock, but sometimes you need it a smig faster or slower.

It saves time as well to just a recorded runs.
