For those of you who rip your music collection to your computer, do you have it on your DAW, your PC, or have it on both for you to listen too?

I'm just curious.

Thanks,
Mike

makes more sense to put it on your PC,the less prgrammes running on your DAW the better.
I use a laptop for emails/web/itunes,...basically all the donkey work.

Same here. No internet on work computer, never mix the two.

Also, if you can't afford a separate internet machine, then dual boot is obligatory for safety reasons, one boot for music work, the other for internet and everything else, preferably running through a transient storage area like Sandboxie.

seriously, if I had internet on my music computer, i'd never get anything done. Though I do still keep all my music files and everything on there, and I admit one or two videogames. Absolutely no internet.

I have an 80 gig iPod. All of my iTunes are on my laptop (not my DAW) including both purchases and rips from my DVD collection. I have it backed up on an external usb drive.

Now I just need to convert my vinyl collection. I've seen record players that convert directly to digital that run about $175. The only thing is it has to be done in real time so that will be a slow process.

I've got everything on the same computer, but I have nothing running in the background so it is not a problem. It is definitely a pain to maintain though, with every stupid program now wanting to run some background process for updating, etc.
