External Hard Drive For Macbook

I have a macbook pro 17''- core 2 duo 2.4 ghz,1gig ram,a 160gb hdd.i need an external hard drive (firewire) with the best access speeds coz i need to install all sample libraries and virtual instruments.size-200-500 gb.does anyone know which one to go for?i was thinking of something from western digital.

G-RAID G-TECH FW800.

I don't know how much you can take advantage of it with only 1 GB RAM though.

mac book pro comes only with 2 gb ram.i accidently wrote 1 gb.
