Hi all,

This is quite an amazing product that will give you back what you put into it, and It's going to take a while to master or even become proficient in. For all its innovation I have this question (I don't want to appear ungrateful but...) - does anyone else find the voice range of the sopranos and basses unworkable?

It seems that more emphasis has been put on the extremes of range rather than the everyday parts. THis makes it very difficult to write for a normal voice line. The Sopranos go higher than a choral piece would ever reasonably go, yet they only go down to an A. This is so frustrating - if you could find me a piece that has the lowest soprano note as an A i'd be very surprised. The altos cover their natural range nicely. The tenors are manageable. The basses are another difficult one - for me going down to a low B (never practically called for) at the expense of their powerful higher register seems strange - going from a D to C would be more useful. Of course the ranges are covered, but to switch on a solo line

It just seems strange that after all this work at trying to make the choirs sound real that the sop and bass ranges are so impractical. Does anyone share my thoughts?

Hi,

If you do a search you'll find this has been covered and that Nick and Doug don't think it's a problem. I agree with you however. The workarounds are unsatifactory from a timbre standpoint IMO.

Because of the enormous data base of samples, we had to limit the ranges. However you can use the full men's or women's choruses to solve this. The timbre change is really not very noticeable.
