Hi all,
In a library from another editor there are different types of keyswithes. Passive ones like these of Play, and active ones too. When you need e.g. a slur, you press the corresponding key and when you release it you get the previous state. Will it be possible there will be such keyswitches in Play one day? Play is already easy to use but it would be even more practical. Cheers, Edmond |

Cher Edmond,
Dear Edmond, For Slur action, if you use the legato script, you can control its action via the CC#68. And CC#68 is a kind of active KS. Francois, Montreal

How do you activate this CC? What I said is in some library you press a key(switch) then if you play eg E3 then G3, you get a glissando of a minor third from E to G3. Best, Edmond |

Dear Edmond,
There are many thread in this forum about portamento and other script that seems to not work properly. even that, if you activate the legato script, the user manual said that this script need another control to be enable. It is CC#68. This was provide (I think) to enable and disable the legato script in a on-line mode... in real time (understand during the playback). In the midi standard, CC#68 was already assign to legato. For example, if you use a sample bank from Garritan company, the player provide by this company (Kontakt Player, the small brother of Kontak), cut the first portion of the sample when the CC#68 was activate. This remove the attack portion of the sample (eg for a tring instrument, the begining of the bow movement). This emulate a legato style because you remove the attack portion of the sound. To go further, a notator like Finale obviously allow the uses of slur in your score. During the analysis (just before the playback), Finale interpret your score and find slurs. When it detect one, it activate the CC#68 for the duration of the slur. So sounds was automatically played in a legato mode. SO if you try to use PLAY EWQLSO with Finale, if you enable the legato script, you can activate this script only when you need it eg during the slur uses. I don't use them, for now, because when you enable the legato script, PLAY desactivate the release trail and force your midi channel to be in mono mode. I think that the last upgrade improves this condition but I am not sure and I don't, for now, make test for that.

Thanks François
![]() It's clearer now in my mind. I'm like you, I don't use legato mode, for the reasons you gave. Best regards, Edmond |
