Absolutely beautiful, sir! Well done! Sounds like a mixture between JNH and James Horner, but not like an imitation of course. In my mind that is a compliment!

I think I heard a bit more of Steve Jablonsky's string work in the beginning from the island (kinda), but listening on I heard a little more of Horner's style. However this does have it's on feel, I can honestly say this sounds more like Phill's . Great piece, very enjoyable.

good to see you Phill! great composition. moving, evocative, powerful. I wish the piano was slightly less mechanical and the strings flowed a bit more, but those are small things. moments like 2:50 are magical, so much life and color. everything is just really wonderful. congrats man.

Hi,
This is really stunning, did you only used SO Gold for strings (or mixed patchs) ? The quality is great.
Hope to hear more.

Jerome

Yes, the string ideas are emulated by SO Gold.

Always experiment with ways you can tweak something.

Nice piece man. Mix wise it could use some more work on the strings and the staccato winds. Also the piano when played fast sounds mechanical. I think it is just a matter of humanizing and maybe layering some.
Composition-wise this piece sounds nice, there is a cool build-up, but somewhere in the middle you almost lost me. I think it's because you really lost track with the themes and the melody, counterpoint, etc. It didn't quite feel like a story being told anymore. However, as Ted said, at the end you focused on an important colorful theme again, and it made the piece whole. I think what I am saying is to not wander too much musically, because sometimes you may lose the listerner, although judging on the comments you've had so far I must be the only one :P

Best regards
To be honest, I love to explore multiple realms of color, for many different reasons. The most relatable reason being that consistent pieces that function on a formula tend to bore me. You're not the only one, I get this ALOT, and it's nice that you formulated a critique observing my extreme change in color.

Nice peice. Have to agree with everything Hugo said - his post was spot on.

Yep - right around 1:14. It just kinda dies a bit. You pick it back up nicely at around 2:20, tho. The string writing is nice, but sounds a bit synthy. Are you using the mod wheel more than just a little? Also, sounds like you only have 1st violins. What about 2nd vs?

Oh, and get that aspiring composer comment out of your sig. It sounds as if you are readily admitting that you are "not there yet". Maybe you feel you aren't, but don't say that publicly. Did Frank Lloyd Wright ever publicly state that he was an aspring architect?

Cheers.
