Default Using EW Libs w/Kontakt 2.2 on an Intel Mac

Hello,

Native Instruments has recently released their Universal Binary update to Kontakt 2. Here's how you can get those East West libraries loaded:
  1. Install your East West Products on your Intel Mac
  2. Download and Install the Kontakt 2.2 update
  3. Run the Registration tool
  4. Run, then quit each of the standalone East West products (found in Applications/East West)
  5. Run Kontakt 2.2

If you have problems loading your libraries on an Intel Mac, please review this FAQ entry:

Say you own Silver and Stormdrum.

Open Silver inside Applications/East West/EWQLSO Silver Edition
Quit Silver
Open Stormdrum inside Applications/East West/Stormdrum Kompakt
Quit Stormdrum
Open Kontakt 2

Sam,

So do I understand correctly that the EW programs, for instance Pro XP Strings, will install on the Mac Pro, but just not show up in Logic?

I have K2 on order - should come in a day or two. Can't wait to get this stuff loaded on the Mac Pro and take her for a test drive.

Yes, that is entirely true. All Kompakt and Intakt products work standalone under Rosetta with a performance hit, but do not show up at all as plugins in a sequencer unless that sequencer is also running under Rosetta (not something you'd want to do).

Default works great!

Followed Sam's instructions this morning and it works like a charm! YEAY, I can play my EWQLSO Gold Pro samples again!!!

One thing- in Logic, I cannot seem to use Midi Controller #11 (Expression) which is weird. I can use it on the resident Jam Packs and logic plug-ins but not using Kontakt 2. I guess I should enquire about this over at NI since it's tehnically their issue and not East Wests.

used the registration tool to register, and the stand alone program works fine under rosetta... no messages requiring authorization anymore, but kontakt 2.2 still won't load my storm drums...

So, just to understand it.
My east EW product (symph. orch.silv.ed.) came along with an koMPAKT player.
And now I can update this player with an koNTAKT update? or do I have to buy kontakt first?
I'm a little confused at the moment. please give me an answer........tank you

You can load EWQLSO nki and nks files via Kontakt as they read the same file format. However. Kontakt 2 (at the moment) is the only way to play EWQLSO sounds on an Intel Mac. If you don't have an Intel Mac, don't worry about it. If you do, Kontakt 2.2 is the only way you can play those sounds until Doug/Nick unveil QControl and/or update their program with the Universal version of the Kompakt player that comes with EWQLSO.

Question regarding Symphonic Choirs.

Is Word Builder gonna work?
Is it gonna run on Rosetta too like the stand-alones?
Or is there a UB Word Builder i'm missing somewhere...
