Processing Power - Silver vs Gold?

Again, I appologize if this has been answered, I'm new here. I currently use Sonar 4 and EWSilver Orchestra. I would like to upgrade to Gold, but am curious as to the REAL difference between processing power for Gold vs Silver. I have a Sony VIO with a Pentium 4 2.5 with 1 gig of ram (unfortunately, this particular VIO maxes out at 1 gig). I have a separate hard drive to house my libraries. Currently, EWSilver works great in Sonar... no problems at all. Should I be alright using Gold? Looking for any similar experiences.
