Default Will I hit a dead end with Logic Express?

Hi guys.

I'm a bit confused. When people see the iLok key sticking out of my computer they ask what it is. This leads me to showing them my Eastwest virtual instrument packs. Then that ask if I use Logic and I explain I have Logic Express since I have no clue what I'm doing with virtual instruments I just like to play around. (I haven't even used Logic Express except one time.)

Well, every person (who knows about sound production/composition) keeps telling me Logic Express was the wrong choice and I should have gotten full blown Logic but they can never explain why. Is it really that limiting? When I decide to sit down and learn Logic Express am I going to hit a huge road block? (Is it like using Adobe Photoshop Elements vs Photoshop?)

All I need to do with it is compose little songs to be used in videogames. My keyboarding skills are quite rusty so the ability to adjust already played notes is a plus. It looks like Logic Express does that just fine. Am I missing something?

Hey Chrono,

I used Logic Express for quite a long time before I upgraded to Pro. In fact, I think the only reason I needed Pro was because I was starting to sync to video. I think if Logic Express is currently working great for you, don't rock the boat until you need to!

My 2 cents, anyway...

Logic Express is good if you don't need the video synchronisation, the 5.1 and plenty of sheep sounds which don't worth a true library like we know on this forum (on my opinion...). But now i'm asking if there're going to cast a 64 bit version of Logic express like it is for Logic pro... If they don't, it would probably change my mind.

Thanks guys for the responses

I wanted to make sure I was going to be able to do what I wanted on Logic Express when I started learning it. (I haven't had the time but my needs are simple so I'm sure it will work for me ).
