Default seagate barricuda HDs...good for mac?

Hi all

Im about to put new HDs in my new mac pro... is this spec recommended for streaming large sample libraries off?

"Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200Rpm Serial ATA2 Hard Drive 32Mb Cache"

Is 32mb cache sufficient? I know the terapack comes on a HD with 64Mb cache so was wondering...

Cheers
Ben

The Cache is only important for temporary files such as swap memory/page file and such things. As long as the hard disc can fill or purge the cache at a reasonable rate it shouldn't be a problem. It shouldn't be such an issue for streaming although the larger cache size will allow for more data held in a queue therefore reducing the frequency data needs to be fetched from disc. Well it's kind of like that anyway...

Yup that should work fine. A 64 cache is better, but who knows how much of a difference it would make with samples. Probably not much. 1TB size is a great choice.
