Default Amazing Spider-Man

Wasn't expecting much from this, but it *swung* way higher than my expectations-listened to the entire score and didn't hear much danger motif from Mr. Horner. What do you guys think?

Definitely different from Mr. Elfman's Spider-Music.

I just saw the movie and it is very entertaining - with a different twist from the earlier Spiderman movies. At first I was a bit hesitant since the earlier Spiderman movies were only just released a few years ago ("why"? and whatever happened to the original cast?) but it's not a bland remake by any measure.

Good job on the music by James Horner.

I saw it today, and wasn't impressed. I felt that the revenge aspect was not in keeping with the character's history, and that there was too much re-hashing of things already seen a mere 10 years ago in Raimi's "Spider-Man". Also, was there anyone in the film that Spider-Man didn't take his mask off for? Too many times he didn't seem terribly concerned that he revealed his identity. Blah.

One more comic book movie to go. Here's hoping "The Dark Knight Rises" lives up to the hype.

Personally this movie didn't make me cringe with embarrassment at the dialogue the way the Raimi series did, so that was a bonus point. The old three movies were dreadfully cheesy to the point of nausea. This movie was a standard-edition comic book movie the likes of which we've seen a dozen times in the last couple of years but it entertained me and in my opinion it wasn't bad.

I had issues with Raimi's take, and this one. The only one I thought Raimi did pretty well was 2. There are pros and cons to both Raimi's, and this new incarnation. This is a series I wish Marvel would handle in-house, especially with their last few successes.

I think that this is Spiderman 4... Same as James Bond 4, or Ice Age 4. Different story, same characters, different actors...

I did enjoy that one quite a bit, as opposed to the other spiderman (from Raimi). something felt wrong with the other one, whereas here spidy was being... the spiderman I know.

I found the music quite impressive, love the way Mr. Horner makes the action parts with some slow epic horns and a cool percussion rhythm, also the music came out in the perfect moments, and not always so it wasn't to much.

I felt that the music could be done with the EWQL, dont know why but I keep thinking to myself the name of the instrument in the orquestral library or the percussion in storm drums 2, the sounds were very orquestral and simple.

Well it was a good movie and a mediocre score. The basic motif was a bit too "up" so when he needed to do heroic dark spiderman in an action/peril context it simply didn't work. The swinging down the line of cranes thing didn't quite come off either which was a "big moment". In other contexts the real killer with SM is finding a way of doing comedy in the middle action which is really tough. Crack that and yo've really got it but this movie there wash;t so much comedy actually which is SM's stock in trade. Horner does't really do the big compelling action thing.
