Default which (RME?) card?

Hello

Please advise which (RME?) card is relevant to my requirements - i need a simple but very low latency card to use for virtual sample libraries e.g. EWQL, lass, etc in cubase/vepro and only one output to the amp from my mac pro.

I do no digital recording at all, and no surround mixing etc and i just have one midi keyboard as a midi controller,

The reason i need a card is that my internal mac pro card has significant latency at 1024mb buffer size and if i go down to 512 buffer the audio gets choppy, unstable with glitches etc

if you have a pci slot (not pci-e), then the 9632 card will work great. About $600 with the breakout cable. It will handle your audio needs and also has a midi connection, and rme midi is as good as it gets, along with the lowest latencies for audio and generally/consistantly the best written drivers in the business.

If you only have a pci-e card, then the HDSP e AIO card, over $900 with the break-out cable will do all you need.

In the long run, you may be best served with the AIO card since PCI slots will be disappearing. This seems expensive, but if you can afford it, you'll be at a solid pro level and would be many years before needing to upgrade due to out-dating of the pci-e slots or anything like that.

Good luck,

Paul

Not sure what the internal card is with the mac and whether the rme would fix the problem. Try a cheap USB interface first before dropping so much cash on an rme. If you do go rme, the aio is probably the one, because I think its the only one that offers analog outputs right out of the box.
