Very good point. I guess it is more of just a leading to the water than a use this thread.

Some people I know still prefer the Giga2 piano over many of the later version pianos from other companies.

I am so picky, it would be unfair. I have used the 290 for certain classical pieces over the Ivory and have used the XP piano before for a layer because it "sat" better.

There is no right piano. Even a live recorded piano doesn't always work and is either layered with a sample or rerecorded using a sample.

What feels right and sounds right is usually the right choice.

Allen and I seem to have similar tastes, but that might not be true for everyone.

Personally, I listened to the PianoTeq and though it sounded nice, I would probably only use it because of its small footprint and replace it with a better piano.

There was something synthetic and grainy about it to me.

Just curious LEX as to what shortcomings you feel are inherent in Ivory. Maybe stylistically it just doesn't fit all of your niches?
Please Allan - or anyone else ! - , I'm looking for a good controller, general purpose but should be GREAT at piano playing. Not much music stores in Brittany so I'ld like to go to the right direction. Already tried a Studiologic (990 ?) plugged on a Roland piano. The feel was nice, but no subtleties at all when heard, like gaps between dynamic layers, gaps I wasn't hearing on the roland itself (and I'm not a very good player at all !!!). Also tried the M-Audio and thought the feel was awfull. Yamaha CP-33 was ok, but it was it's own sound engine so...
Any advice would be appreciated, and then I could go to the *right* keys worth trying when in Paris. I need 2 wheels of course, aftertouch is not compulsory. Thanx !

Lots of people like it. A few on these forum pages as well: http://www.soundsonline-forums.com/s...ard+controller

Controllers are as personal as Pianos, lol. I personally find myself pounding away at the Roland FAntomx8 alot on weekends...

For those of you that are trying to decide on a piano, this site is attempting to organize things to make your decision a little easier:
