Default need a new soundcard for goliath....

after months of anticipation for goliath to finally drop (my first synth purchase ever), i'm in need of a brand new soundcard and i want it to be capable to say the very least. i'm running on vista (yeah yeah, i've heard all the "you can't do audio production on vista" claims, but they are proved wrong here) so thats the big key for me - vista compatability/performance.

dont want to spend more than 200 bucks, looked at the emu1212m just not sure how the vista drivers are workin atm.

any of you guys running QL products on vista?? if so i'd love to know what soundcards are delivering the big bang for ya

try M-Audio's line of soundcards for that budget.

They run just fine. However they only have drivers for most of their products in 32 bit Vista only. 64 bit drivers for Vista have yet to be developed.

not positive, but i'm assuming that the 64 bit drivers are more ideal as far as goliath will go, correct??

what about that emu 1212M?? i'm pretty sure theyve got both the 32 and 64 bit drivers out...

I guess so.. Im not really a fan of EMU but there's a bunch of people out there who are satisfied with their quality, and since they are on top of supporting Vista I guess you could get it.

You might want to wait for more input from other forum members here tho.

RME, Lynx, Presonus and MOTU are the tops when it comes to driver support.

It's been more than a year now, so I think most audio interface manufacturers have Vista support already, but be sure to check on their sites before you do any purchasing.

Do it with all your hardware.

so i guess the question that i'm still awaiting an answer to is: who here uses their QL product on vista successfully, and what soundcard are you using????

We're using several here, including MOTU, RME, and Edirol. Just check with the manufacturer specs that they have Vista drivers available. Most reputable brands should at this point.
