Default Problems with freezing

Pretty much everytime I freeze a track, the audio will not hold out any notes and only play the first attack and then abruptly cut off.

If I unfreeze and refreeze the track with the problem it goes away, so I can get past the problem but this takes a VERY long time to have to freeze, unfreeze, and then refreeze every track I want to make a quick adjustment too.

Is anyone else having this problem or having any suggestions? I really appreciate any help

hi treythree,

i used to freeze all my tracks and found the process a wee bit temperamental. it might have something to do with your HDrive, that your samples are on, spinning down.. but if you are freezing your tracks to save on your computers RAM, as i once did, i would recommend possibly investing in some. i did so and the time that is saved not freezing/unfreezing is unreal. its so much easier to get through a large project.

hope im not telling you something you already know and you work it out..
regards

hi treythree,
It might have something to do with freezing while your samples Hdrive has spun down.. i used to freeze all my tracks probably for the same reasons as you, to save on computer RAM. i found the whole process extremely time consuming on large projects. i would really recommend, if possible, shopping around and investing in some extra RAM. time saved not freezing/unfreezing on large projects is unreal.

hope this helps

I think your best bet is to submit a tech support ticket.

I get the same thing, even in playback, if my HD has spun down. I have to play back the piece until all the notes play, then freeze.
I've had it happen once or twice when the system is really under load and using WDM drivers instead of ASIO and in each case I has to close and re-open Sonar.

investing in some extra RAM
Investing in extra RAM is a good idea, but a better idea would be if East West released a plugin that works. The libraries (in my case SD 2 and Symphonic Choirs) are great but if a freezed Symphonic Choir track is completely damaged (cut notes etc) the mistake is NOT my RAM or the HD but a bad implementation of PLAY.

I have Storm Drum 1 with KOMPAKT in 5 instances and there is no single problem - if I start ONE instance of PLAY, it might crash my Cubase 4 or freezing doens't work properly. Don't tell me that the fault is something different but PLAY.

Example: http://download.sansiba.com/freezingwithplay.mp3

Never mind... the engine is quite new and in one year it might run perfectly... but please don't tell something about RAM or a defragmented HD ...these are workaround but no solutions :-)

I was searching these problems and note I have the same, or very similar problem in Mac OS X 10.5.6 with Ableton Live. Not sure why it's happening so I've sent a tech support ticket.
