I want to upgrade. I have a AMD 64 x 2 Dual Core. All my hardware is 64 bit compatible.
I use mostly EastWest Samples and now that SO is in PLAY I feel confident to upgrade to Windows XP64Bit and make use of my extra 8 Gig RAM. I use Sonar 7 Studio which is also 64 bit compatible. Only thing that is not, is my KONTAKT 3 sampler in which I load all of my other samples. Anyone else perhaps have this configuration with XP64 bit? Using 64 bit Sampler + 32 bit sampler ? |

I love XP64 myself. It feels more stable than regular XP ever was for me. I currently use an Intel Quad Core with 4GB of RAM and an E-MU 1212M sound card. Only issue I had was with printers. But after picking up a new one, that was no longer a problem. I still use a 32bit sequencer, so I'm not reaping the full benefits of 64bit'isms yet. But I suppose I'm ready whenever my sequencer decides to catch up to the plugins. I think I read somewhere that 64bit Kontakt will be available in a few months as well.

As long as you're not trying to run PLAY in a 32-bit sequencer, you should be fine.
That's the only issue I'm having with XP64. Other than that, yeah, it's great!

Yeah, it took me some voodoo to do it with the current version, but it sounds like the next update may smooth that process out a bit.

I another thread I was told that if you use Xp64 bit or any other 64 bit OS for that matter, you will suffer double latency on your soundcard ? Is that true ?

I have used Sonar 7 with XP64 Pro for quite a while. you will have no problems with any of the EWQL samples, with the exception of Word Builder. I used the 64 bit Sonar on a Dual Core machine for 6 months and now I am using it on a Quad Core, 8 GB RAM and I have had no problems with any of the applications or samplers, with the above exception. I have researched it and found that you can install Sonar 64 bit AND 32 bit on the sdame machine, just install the 32 bit under the Programs(x86) side and you can use both. whatever won't work in 64, you can run in 32, render to wave, and import to the 64 version.
hope this helps

What's your problem with Word Builder?
Is XP64 still available? Vista 64 works fine even if many XP64 users are bashing it. I'm currently using two 64-bit systems and I can't see any reason why anyone should use 32-bit systems or XP64. Viva la revolución.

Does the Midi controller have to have drivers for Xp 64? And will the M-AUDIO Keystation 88ES work with sonar 7 64 bit under XP64?

Wordbuilder works fine, but when I was setting up my 64bit slave, Maple MIDI tools hadn't released a 64bit version, so I moved my word building to my master comp.
