Do PLAY products make use of the "aftertouch" in MIDI keyboards?

So far I don't think so. I can't seem to recall nor find anything about PLAY that utilizes Aftertouch.

I see this asked time after time. I'm wondering what folks would do with Aftertouch (especially where orchestral and real instrument samples are concerned) I cant think of anything we do with the orchestra that can't be done with any other numbers of controllers.
What kind of effect are you after LMG?

Aftertouch is one of those things that when you look down a list of features you think. What is that? I want it. What does it do?
I've never really found a use for it, I must confess. But then it gets really dangerous when you have POLYPHONIC AFTERTOUCH !!!!!!!! WOWWEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! ![]() Though joking aside some people will find a use for it and I'm not making fun of them, no way, no-sir-eee. Polyphonic aftertouch, think of the chaos. ![]() Don't know about play though. Sorry.

we've used aftertouch on Synth based patches for filter or 'breathing' effects. Its a great controller assignment for synthesized sounds.

i would love to see a very subtle scripted vibrato effect or a subtle crescendo (decrescendo on release) linked to aftertouch that would further add a little more life.
especially layered with other articulations this could be very good.

Yeah. Aftertouch is mostly used in synthesizers for vibrato. Maybe some people are misunderstanding what "aftertouch" refers to. Maybe some people call "aftertouch" to all the effects that come after pressing a key and keeping it down (all kinds of sound morphing and breathy effects). But the "aftertouch" I'm refering to, is the one that goes when pressing the key even harder after you have pressed it. For example, if you are using a flute patch, you press a key and keep it down. Without releasing the key, you even press harder, and the flute "vibrates". Of course this can be done with the mod wheel too, but do PLAY products make use of this "aftertouch" I'm refering to?

what they need to do is make patches like fortepiano aftertouch based. press to get the forte attack then press a little harder while holding to get the rest of the fortepiano phrase.

You could use aftertouch as a keyswtich to trigger different articulations. Its a pity it is not employed.
