Default VELOCIRAPTOR HELP NEEDED

I am going to get a mac pro 8 core and am thinking about installing three velociraptor drives in addition to the system drive. With the new "ice" tray that fits in the mac pro, are there any issues about heat? Do I need to upgrade a fan system? I need to move on this and would appreciate any help.
Thanks!
Lou

WD makes velociraptors now that fit mac without needing the MAXXupgrade or MACWORLD kit as far as i know. But I would be weary of the heat thats going to generate...

Did you say "heat"? I compared the Velociraptor's heat to that of the 150 Gb Raptor, and the difference is day-and-night! Remember that the Velociraptor has a HUGE heathsink attached to it and is actually a notebook-size drive. It's a much more efficient HD as well. No heat-problems for me anymore!

P.s. I should mention that I'm using Raptors and Velociraptors in a multiple PC setup, and that my Mac doesn't have a Velociraptor yet. Sorry.

Yeah - they tend to run WARM-hot in a Mac pro.

Thanks for the replies! Not to derail my own thread, but does anyone use a firewire drive as the audio write drive?

The Mac Pro is so freakin impressive in evey way, including heat dispersion. Look at my sig. While it does put out a fair amount of heat, the key phrase there is "put it out". The case stays cool as a cucumber. You will love the 300G Velociraptors...be sure you order the WD3000HLFS, which is backplane ready

That being said, the F1 Spinpoints do an amazing job with over twice the space at 1/3 the price...I have 4 of them plus the Velociraptor, and have absolutely no problems with speed, and I run my buffer at 250ms
