Hello all,
I wondered if you might be able to do me a favour (if you are able). My trusty G5 recently died so I have bought a new Intel Mac Pro. I have an old track that I need to remix and edit for release by the end of October. I wrote it a few years ago before I had Native Instruments Kontakt sampler. I used East West's Symphonic Orchestra's Kompakt player to write the track but they have stopped making the software for the new Intel Mac's, so Im trying to find someone with a copy of Kompakt so that I can open up the track and find out the articulations that I used, then I'll be able to recreate the sounds within Kontakt. If anyone is willing I would be very grateful, I could send you the file and would just need you to open it and let me know the articulations used, Thanks very much, rob

You should be able to open up the track and find the midi data still there, even though the Kompakt player is not installed. If you named your tracks in your projectfile, (be it cubase/sonar/proools etc.) it should be easy to just re-assign new instruments using Kontakt instead.

Hi Rob,
While I'm certain everyone would like to help, I'm not sure we're allowed to distribute software like Kompakt, new or old Since you apparently own a licenced copy of EWQLSO Kompakt, can't you just download the latest version directly from the NI web site by just logging in to where all your programs are registered?? Have you contacted NI at all? Just a thought. Certainly Shantar's suggestion would work too IF the tracks were named.

I have the Kompakt sampler, will be happy to take a look - though I thought that Kompakt was just a sampler, not a sequencer, so I am kind of curious how you were able to create a track with just Kompakt?

Peter
thanks very much I'll send it over tomorrow..... might well not work as you say due to compatibility but worth trying, cheers fella Playz123 thanks for responding, Im not planning to distribute any software, I am trying to find someone who is working on a G5 who owns their own copy of EWQLSO so that I can send them my Logic song, they can open it up look and see what articulations I used for the orchestra. I would then be able to phone or e-mail to get the names of the patches used, so that I can then open up the same patches in Kontakt. NI have stopped making Kompakt so there is no version that is compatible with an Intel Mac. I have spoken to NI and this is rather annoyingly their suggestion. If you have a Mac with a working copy of Kompakt I would be very grateful if you wouldn't mind helping, Shantar, Alas my file labeling was some what shoddy back then so I did not label the midi files. I can see all the midi information but just cant see what articulations I was using as Kompakt doesn't open in Intel Mac's Thanks for replying, let me know if you are able to help, rob

Oops..... Got my names wrong.... sorry.....
Jim Curtis Message for Peter was for you, ..... d'oh.... Peter I probably explained things very badly in my post, I have not created tracks within Kompakt, the tracks are multiple copies of ONE of Logic's audio instrument tracks (for example audio instrument 1) If you copy this track in the environment and name each copy differently (Kontakt 1, Kontakt2 etc) AND give each copied track it's own midi channel then you can trigger different midi channels within Kompakt/Kontakt etc (so long as you have the plug-in loaded on that audio instrument). This means that you dont have to open loads of Kompakt or Kontakt players which is good for CPU..... sorry if you already know this, if you dont, and you'd like to know more then let me know and I'll try to explain it in more detail..... rob

Hi Rob,
Re. "so that I can send them my Logic song, they can open it up look and see what articulations I used for the orchestra." ---Oops, sorry about that. I thought that you were also suggesting that you'd like to obtain Kompakt. My apologies; I should have read your message more carefully. I now realize that it doesn't make a lot of sense to have Kompakt if you can't run it ![]() Re. "If you have a Mac with a working copy of Kompakt I would be very grateful if you wouldn't mind helping" ---Unfortunately I do not. I use a PC. Looks as if others can help you though, so hope you get it all resolved to your satisfaction. Sorry about the misunderstanding on my part. Bad cold today and it's obviously affecting me! Cheers...........playz
