Default Black Lion mods

Just wondering if anyone has ever gotten the analog modification for thier MOTU 2408. I have the mkIII and this is now the 2nd one in less than a year in which the volume pot has started to go bad. With the volume all the way down, my left monitor is just playing along like everything is normal. THen, as I turn the volume up on the volume knob, the right channel starts to come in but now I think the left is always louder. The other unit I had did the exact same thing almost straight out of the box. I keep it rackmounted all the time and the only time I ever touch it is to take the volume knob from zero to maybe 25%. Heck, I've never even turned the thing up past about 10 oclock.

SO anyway, someone mentioned on a forum last time I was having this problem, that I might want to have Black Lion Audio perform the analog mod for the unit in which they replace all of the analog circuitry in the unit. I'm just looking for people who have had this done and wondering how it worked out for you if you have.

Any advice will be appreciciated. I've got a call in to Sweetwater to see if the unit is still under warranty. Thanks.

Check with MOTU forums. I thought of doing it myself, but there were several people who said the mods cause nothing but problems with clocking.

And the mk3's wouldn't do 96k anymore.

Thanks Lex. I was just thinking of getting the analog only mod so I atleast have a damn volume knob that works for more than a few months at a time. It's really so rediculous. I've had synths go for 20 years without a volume pot going bad and I freakin gig with em. Maybe I just havent spilled enough beer on the MOTU.
