We have this piano, but never use it, it doesn't sound good to our ears and we're selling it (signed by Elton John). The Bechstein is now the studio piano and sounds amazing! Cheers, - DR Last edited by Doug Rogers; 02-17-2009 at 08:02 AM. |

Hello Kindred Spirit and others,
While visiting the various world-class pianos at the NAMM Show, last month, I made a curious observation -- curious to my eyes and ears, anyway. At various times throughout the three days I was there (Aside: Hello again, Nick. It was good meeting you in person.), I frequented all of the piano displays, especially on the second floor of the main building. At various times during the day, some visitors would be caressing the keys of the pianos .. and at other times, people would be simply banging away at them -- Jerry Lee Lewis Style. It was interesting how such beautiful real instruments -- expertly tuned and regulated to put their best notes forth -- could respond to various players' collective touches. Most of the time these very same pianos sounded gorgeous; at other times, they sounded bright, clangy and downright ugly, depending upon whose fingers they were subjected. One anecdote I would like to share is this: I was in the Bechstein room, playing quietly. A gentleman was watching nearby, and he introduced himself afterward. I forget his name, but this gentleman was the publisher of the magazine for the Piano Technicians Guild. He remarked favorably on my sense of touch. The reason for mentioning this is that the Bechsteins I have played in real life ... respond especially smoothly to a fine touch. They are capable of becoming brittle sounding if they are banged too hard. In a previous posting to this thread, Messr. Senso described the EWQL Bechstein as the hardest and brightest of the three concert grands. I am not here to make snide remarks about his sense of touch, but only to point out that the EWQL Bechstein "behaves" like the finest Bechsteins around. Thanks for reading this far. Cheers, Joe P.S. Note to Doug, regarding your choice to sell the Elton John signed Yamaha CFIII. My statement about uploading the Yamaha if it were a CFIII was only to draw a comparison that the C7 is more pop oriented rather than concert oriented. |

After all, that’s the point of being an artist, isn’t it? To each his own! Cheers, Senso |

Too true........and after reading the comments here and listening to the demos on the QL Pianos page I am sorely tempted. Hmm, wish I had more items during the 2 for 1 sale
