For those using our instruments in Kontakt 2, there is a release trail problem that NI will fix in the next K2 update.
In the meantime, here is a workaround - Set the release trigger time in RT groups from 0ms to 1ms. This applies to all Quantum Leap products that have release trails. |

Thanks Doug,
How significant is this? Just exactly what does it do, add 1-ms before the "rel" is heard? What is the difference in what we should be hearing and how subtle is it? Thankyou, T.S. |

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. For instance, I loaded 18V Exp Fast, in Grp Editor I selected f 18V exp fast "rel", in Source the Release Trigger says "t(ms): 3440". However, when I loaded 11V Butter Legato the Release Trigger says "t(ms): 0".
Should I change both of these settings to 1ms, and if I do should I save the program with these changes or will it mess things up when the next update of K2 comes out? Al |

hmmm. Thanks Doug. I was wondering what was happening. I loaded up some t-bones and it didn't sound the same. Now I know why.
Thanks you again. Jose |

I found this problem some months ago and after investigation I found the same solution that Doug gave in the original post.
The problem is that the release timer is not being handled correctly in the current version of K2. If you hold a note so that it starts to decay then release it, the release sample plays back at a higher volume than the note you released. I can't say that I have noticed this in EWQLSO Gold, but it stood out like a sore thumb in EWQLSC.

Humm, has anybody figured out any specifics with this yet?
I ran a test with a couple of the simpler instruments that had t(ms):0 and set it to 1 but couldn't detect any difference at all. I was going to try it with some of the instruments that have MOD wheel (cc1) but most of them already have rather high numbers (3001, 4001, etc) so I didn't do anything. I know that I've heard "rel" tails that were indeed out of proportion while I was working with them but don't remember what they were. Either this setting is related to certain instruments or I'm missing something. I realy hate to bother you with this Doug, but it would sure be nice if we all had a little better understanding of this. T.S. |
