Default A vibrato and Non vibrato question?

Hello, i was wondering about when would a string orchestra play non vibrato? Also, are they mainly playing vibrato throughout the whole piece? Is it common for long sustained notes and legato phrases to be played with vibrato?

Another question, i notice the non vibrato patches have no layers, is this controled witht he mod wheel??

Thank users. Dan-Jay

String players use vibrato unless told otherwise.

Yes, non-vibrato is a very specific effect that is only used very sparingly to create a certain mood. Norm is vibrato./
