Default Little Gataro (Final sans tweak)

Here's the more developed version of Little Gataro (No more "placement holders for solo", piano redone, better mix, added flute, etc.) This is the version that was finally released, though I might consider some post-final tweaking just for my own pride.

(Requires QuickTime. If you don't have QuickTime, use this link instead.

Vocals: Me as Myrr Thistletail and choir, piano and flute: SO Gold XP, bass and drums: Colossus.

Funny thing: Just after finishing this, I went to a convention, performing this song on stage with some other musicians, and it sure did stir up some interest. They are currently pestering me into making a live-instrument version of it. If people are interested, I might get back to the forum with that one when it's done.

Thoughts?

Hey Chama,

I can't believe no one else has commented on this, but perhaps no one has the slightest idea what to say about something that doesn't sound like an action-cue from a Van Damme movie.

Good thing I'm here then!

Very good production. I did get a little tired of the vinyl scratching loop, but I acknowledge and appreciate your reasons for doing it! Perhaps fading it out after a little while and then bringing it back up at the end would be better. It does sound slightly interfering.

The composition, however, is awesome. I mean really, really good. I simply love 5/4 when it's done right and it's remarkably convincing here. I do think that the high pitched vocal gets to be a little much in the long run, but I guess that's Myrr Thistletail's trademark.

The performance is at times very convincing. I was especially impressed by your bass-work. The piano is working very well too.

All in all a remarkable performance which I'm looking forward to hearing performed with a live band.

Thomas.

Thanks, Thomas.

I'll fine-tune the scratching a bit, maybe release a "modern" version without wobbling sound and vinyl scratches.

I'll be back later with the live version... could be much later though, as the One Day album comes first now.
