Default EastWest Demos

Hello, today i was browsing trough http://www.capellen.cz/english/recordings.htm and happened to listen to the hollywood demo, at minute 3 you can clearly listen Breath of Ran Gor and at minute 7 you can listen to 1000 ships underworld.

ive always asked to myself why midi files of the demos have never been released, like Scarbee did with the Jslap N Fingered where he shows he used his library to produce the demos. i think EW should write which libraries or if real orchestra was used to produce their demos. like the demos in VSL wich describes what was used

Well EW focuses on that one instrument using their samples, and uses whatever they think would sound best otherwise.

For instance, Ran Gor in the SD2 demos had a real string ensemble layering over EW strings. However, that demo was focused toward SD2, not EWSO. So basically I don't consider them a scam, because they are only beefing up the parts they are NOT selling in the demo itself.

Demos only show their strengths, it shows what part of the library is good for only and this is why when somebody has bought the product, that they find in some areas it doesn't sound good at all to what they want to do with it.

Well, this is a $500+ program, so they'd expect you'd know how to manipulate sounds the way you want if you're spending atleast that much.

i believe they use plugin to tweak the instruments so that it sounds better as well. I have to agree that when i personalyl tested the instruments, they dont sound as good as the demo's. Btw, i've personally tested other free instruments (SF2 format). I added in couple of plugin effects to make it sounds better than the original quality and i have friends who said the string sounds realistic. I believe that's what they did as well.

As Nathan pointed out - some of the SD2 demos include live orchestra, choir and live solo vocals (same that were recorded for VOP btw). But it's still clear to me, that this is not an EWQLSO or Choirs or VOP demo, but a drum library demo.

I'm sure DennyS would be able to comment better than most on here. At least for the SO samples. I LOVE his demo. It's actually what mainly convinced me to make the purchase, even though I'll only be getting gold.

I think hearing demos with pro musicians is important. It shows just how much you can get out of the library. It doesn't sound like that out of the box because everyone knows, sampels don't just work out of the box. We're not just composers or orchestrators, we're engineers whether we want to be one or not.

That being said, the plans for the HS demos make me happy. We'll be able to hear max quality demos, but also get video walkthroughs of how everything works. I think the walk-through are the most important part, as they truely show what we're getting into, and a lot of companies are doing that now.
