Default Epic trailer music PLAY /SD2 and live choir

Hi there,

Here's something i've been working on lately , for my own pleasure I had the opportunity to work with a live choir !

The rest is entirely done with PLAY orchestra , SD2 and one tonehammer percussion.

Good stuff, there. SD2 helped quite a bit with making it sound epic.

Really like this - my kind of stuff.

Heh, just goes to show you what a difference a real choir makes. Not too crazy about the way the choir sits in the mix - it needs a little eq work, but otherwise the cue sounds really good - good job!

Cheers.

I liked it overall however the choir became a bit too much for me and lost the affect. I wonder if you went a little over the top because you had a live choir and felt you had to use it.

Me like! But, how many is in the choir? and did you record it using more then 1 mic. I've been thinking of doing the same, and be using two or three mics.
Could you please PM me about that
Thanks.

Btw: Try to lower the drums from SD2 a bit. I think they are a bit to high, and drown the rest from the mix. Also do some EQ on the choir. Get it more smooth over the mix!

I only listened to it at a moderate level and I thought it sounded really really nice. Not too many elements so you can get away with pumping the signal a bit. Really really nice mockup with EWQLSO and SD2.

Hey Roman,

Great stuff! Very cinematic and really very powerful!

I would go with what someone above suggested, however, and say the choir needs to "sit up" in the mix a bit more. The drums sound pretty huge and I think if anything the choir needs to sound bigger than that! As it is they feel quite distant and not as powerful as the rest of the instruments, when they should be the focus.

Just some suggestions though; overall excellent!

This is fantastic, holding in tension drums and climatic choruses really good. I also arranged songs for such a level as you
