Here's a short bombastic trailer-esque piece I recently wrote. Just about all the sounds came from EW libraries. The trumpet line at the end, however, was a real trumpet player!

Let's start with the negative: I found the woodwinds in the right channel a bit out of the mix, as if they were mixed with a different reverb.
Now the positive: it's great! Ne'er a dull moment, especially the first half. There are so many vaguely related ideas tumbling in rapid succession, with good variation in orchestration. The end is a bit more cliche, but that's easily forgiven.

there's a lot going on! and most of it I like! I think it is too busy for a trailer, however. or at least, for the modern conception of how most trailers work. remember you've got dialogue and other sound FX to compete with. as a standalone piece though, I enjoyed it

I think it's really strong Richard.
Is that a piccolo or standard trumpet? Holy Crap..that's some high notes ![]() I could use a bit less tambourine when the vocals come in. It's a little...insistent ![]() Let us know how it all shakes out. |
