I just wanted to say that I have spent some serious time over the last three days listening to every single demo in the contest for this month and I am completely blown away by the majority of the entries. I dont know really why it should suprise me. Maybe it just scares me to know that there is that much quality competition out there.
Doug, maybe just as an exception, you should just give us ALL I lib of our choice . I think that's the only way I'll end up with one after this month of competition. Lol. Best of luck everyone. Now I have to review my list and relisten to all the best of the best to make my vote. It wont be easy in this crowd.Eric

Eric.
I agree with you, is difficult to make a single vote, when there are so many good entries, may be if we could give tree different votes it should be easier. |

I've narrowed my vote down to three, but I still don't know which one to vote for. A very difficult choice.
Maybe we could have three votes, one for-- 1. Composition/Originality 2. Midi Orchestration 3. Overall Sound/Techincal Quality --and the composition with the most overall votes wins?

Wow what a collection of great artists, composers and arraingers we have here !!!
I sat down and gave every song a complete listen, and am just amazed at the talent here. There are no losers here this month !!!! It seems like everybody brought out something great. Cheers to everybody !!!! However, one song stood out for me, and that was "Carol Of The Bells", by Liam Thomas Smith, which has done a great rendition of a known melody. Even though it's a re-make, it's very well orchestrated. |

Hey djwayne,
Thank you very much the kind words and for your vote! As many have mentioned, there are so many great entries this month, I am just happy to be a part of it. I'm glad you liked it! Thanks again!

You're welcome, you earned it !! Great piece !! Kind of reminds me of renditions the Trans-Siberian Orchestra are putting out. There's lots of things that can be done with older songs and new arraingments, and hopefully my vote for your song will encourage more people to think about doing new renditions. Keep up the good work !!

Yeah I also wish the voting didn't have to be just one... If anything else, it would've been great if it was atleast by category or by "libraries used". But even then it'd be rediculously tough. Great work everyone, a pleasure and a joy listening to all of your work.

It seems everybody has the same thoughts about the quality of the entries !
It's really an headache to select one winner with our subjective opinion about music. Kaatza_Music is right on about what we should keep in mind: 1. Composition/Originality 2. Midi Orchestration 3. Overall Sound/Techincal Quality But still it's a subjective matter for everybody. What is originality ? I prefer by far originality over skills but what to do when a demo having patterns used since decades is technically flawless and really well made ? What to do when it's unique but sounds awfull ? Perhaps should we have 3 prizes like 600$-300$-100$ and three votes 10 points-5points-2 points A nice puzzle for Doug and Nick... SergeD |

I like the one time "One Library Prize For Every Entrant" idea, that would send shock waves thru-out the midi musicians community !!!
They'd be wishin' they would have entered this contest !! |
