Default Demoreel with images

Hi there,

since I would like to prepare a first demoreel for my own music I was wondering if it makes sense to use still images within the demoreel. Perhaps I could use one image per song but for me, it seems to be difficult to find just one image which represents the musical intention of the song. So rather using only black background with contact information throughout the whole reel?

Would be great to get some advice how to start off with a demoreel. Thanks in advance

Hi Diver,

it's really up to you, if you find any pictures describing tension of the track why not to use it. Noone will tell you use the picture or don't. Everyone fell and interpret the music on it's own way, so the picture could be some way of guidance before listetning.

Best,
JTC

I've seen people use still images in demo reels to great effect. You can easily put your contact information in a corner throughout the video and display it full screen at the end. If you simply can't find the right picture for a certain song, just show the title of the piece.

I agree with JTC. At the very least you can use pictures to guide the audience, although I've seen some music/picture pairs in which they each enhance the other (although I'd imagine this is difficult, as it rarely happens).

One important thing though; make sure you ask permission before using a picture, and make sure you include the artist's/photographer's name in the description (or in the video).
