Default how to get tempo to standalone PLAY on a slave?

Hi there,

How does one get tempo information out to PLAY, if PLAY's running standalone on a slave (PC in this case)? I know how to do it using Bidule, but using a host creates other issues that I'd like to avoid.

Is there any way to do this? If not, is there any way to just set the tempo in PLAY so that patches like Measured Tremelo will play correctly with a piece on one's DAW?

I'm using MidiOverLAN to get midi out, using hardware ADAT to get sound back into the DAW.

Thank you,

JohnG

I host my EW library on slaves in Bidule. Sounds like you know what to do, and your Bidule license allows it to be used on slaves, I believe.

Of course, this is Kontakt 3.5 that I use on the slaves for the EWQL and other libraries, not Play. But play does work fine in Bidule, I just haven't tried tempo sync with Play in Bidule. Ought to be fine, though.

Yes Paul -- I'd much rather use PLAY in standalone, though of course Bidule can get the tempo to work. I'm looking for a pure standalone solution, as I've found HS works best in PLAY all on its own -- at least here! The MP Assign on Bidule was not happy, and otherwise one is reduced to a single processor.

Assuming you are using a "TS" patch that utilizes tempo info for time stretching, you can input the tempo in standalone under Main Menu > Advanced Properties (under 'Engine Tempo Sync'). Unfortunately in standalone on a separate machine it's not going to see tempo change information if it's changing within the track, which is just a limitation of not using a host for this purpose.
