Now that it's been out awhile: What do you think of it?
How are you using it? The sound on sound reviewer said ,You can do some Brian May, guitar orchestra stuff. It may be a great addition to MOR and fab four. thanks,Bill Last edited by Doug Rogers; 12-01-2010 at 03:38 PM. |

I was actually interested to hear about this as well. I have not purchased it myself but I wanted to know how others felt about it.

What do you think of the demos? Have you seen the SOS review?

Yes I have, and the demos as well as the review definitely spiked my interest, but it's so difficult to tell if a library like that will actually prove useful to me or end up feeling like a huge, expensive library of sounds I don't ever really want in my music. Not that I have ever, EVER been let down by EWQL before. That's the reason I'm buying the Terapack, so I can test it all out first!
I do really like using distortion in my own music but I like to leave it very hands-on, distorting my own vocal effects or playing with sounds my keyboard or viola make. Leaving all the "under-the-hood" work to someone else is scary to me. How do you feel about the demos? The review seemed to have nothing but positives to say about it. |

I like the demos. There is a review on youtube .the reviewer goes through some individual sounds.
keep in mind, youtube audio isn't perfect, but the patches sound good. |

If only you knew the power of... (Sorry, couldn't resist).
When Doug first announced it, and that it "wasn't for purists" I thought I'd instantly want it. But when it got here it wasn't what I expected, and like Casiquire I have been holding off. The YouTube review by SoundsAndGear can be found here. The reviewer "St. Joe" sounds a little like a brother from the hood at first, but he actually owns a lot of software and is pretty adept with presenting them online. |

I am not really big on this 'weird sound / experimentation' stuff.....to me nothing beats a great sound of an instrument played the way it's supposed to. I mean, what do I do with a sound of a piano played with screws inside the board? I'd rather buy a great piano library.

I should clarify from my previous post that I do NOT own this library. My opinion is going on reviews, demos and others' comments. I might as well also clarify that I was expecting more mangled orchestral and acoustic instruments and less distortion. Not that EWQL presented it as such, that was my own perception. Though I do believe Doug says there's a lot of those samples in there too, just not focused on the demo.
When I do get the library I promise to give a more full review. And it's inevitable that I will get it, as I think EWQL have the best samples on the planet (and I'm a hoarder, collector and sucker like the rest of us!) |
