Hi all!

Itīs been a while since I posted something here... but now I want to share piece I composed recently. Itīs more or less just a collection of ideas.
I used a lot of HS (LT6 patches) and a lot of EWQL SO.

Just a collection of ideas? .. I love the way you think! (lol). The transition from 1:30-1:50 is especially delightful. My ears are like, "Where's the popcorn?" Your music IS the movie! <br>

That's pretty good, no, I take that back: it's very good. It might be a juxtaposition of moods, but not inconsistent: I heard some pretty consistent use of themes, and some great orchestrations, especially where the celli step out, and the whole flows pretty naturally, and has a neat rhythmic pulse. You might be a Mahler adept, although I also detect some Bruckner. If you want to make it more consistent, you could return to an earlier section from time to time, but I don't think it's necessary.

The title might be mispelled, though: you probably meant sorcerer.

I enjoyed this very much! These ideas were very solid and I'm so glad to see someone posting music with melodic content that has direction and contour! And on top of that the contrast you offer melodically, harmonically, and orchestrationally are all balanced very well!!! I'd say you've got a keeper there. The only thing that was a little weak to me was the ending, and I only mean the last note. It sounds like all the bottom and high disappeared...maybe it's just me. I'd like a bigger bang though if it matters to you what my opinion is at all, haha. More bottom end punch and why not a nice Woodwind rip? Just my 2 cents. Thanks for sharing.

of course it does ... and you re probably right. The end comes to fast.

Simon,
I used a lot of EWQL Orchestra and HS (main mic without reverb) in that piece. I didnt apply any additional reverb on the several instrument. I just did a mix of C S F mics and then applied a general reverb for the whole mix. (The Lexicon one, which comes with SONAR)

Thanks for listening.

Michael.

profoundly good!! loved every second of it.such a strong well balanced sound and every movement and counter movement works together seemlessly.nothing about it feels artificial or cliched.
just soild writing and a stunning appreciation of dynamics and articulation

the short version > you tell a story beautifully

hey Michael, I really liked this! some great stuff going on here. something weird happened for me in the beginning.. the buildup that happens 0:36-0:49... it felt like it was being played quiet but with great intensity yet sounded far away, is this what you intended? like the velocities were too high.

the crazy section you have ~2min is full of wonderful energy!-- nicely done. then the slower resting period after is very soothing and provides a nice contrast. the string lines 3:00-3:20 would benefit from some articulation work, all of the notes have the same attack (and finish really) -- the same articulation over and over.

the mix overall seemed a little dark and underwater like it needed to breath and really come alive in the high range.

the ending felt very abrupt but I liked it! I think you may be able to make it more effective with a little more buildup and/or tension.

well done man! a great study in technique and orchestration. I love how chaotic and lively the ideas flowed... very appropriate for a sorceror. thank you for sharing!
