Default Help! ordered the wrong version

Hello

I'm having a bit of a meltdown at the moment, I ordered the Complete Composers Collection at the weekend and it has just arrived. There's a sticker on the box saying Mac version, but I needed the Windows version!! I checked the invoice and, I've been a complete idiot and bought the Mac version by accident.

Please tell me I can still use it on a PC? If not, will EastWest do an exchange?

This should really be in the support forum. Why not submit a support ticket?

Well, I contacted Customer Support, and they said they'll make an exchange for the PC version. Phew!

But before I go ahead and send it off, has anyone had any experience with transferring data from a MAC hard drive to a PC hard drive? I may attempt it, but if there's risk of accidentally wiping the drive clean or something, then I won't risk it

From what I've heard, it's generally best not to do stuff like that, since Macs and PC's don't always play nice with each other.

Hi,
There is one safe solution, paid of course, that is called MacDrive that I can highly recommend;http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive
MacDrive enables your Windows PC to see and use Mac-formatted disks and drives. You can open files on Mac disks, edit those files and even save back to a Mac disk – in Mac format. Simply plugin an external drive or pop in a Mac disk and it will appear just like any other disk on your PC. MacDrive does all the hard work in the background and even displays a little red apple next to the drive just to let you know you’re using a Mac disk.

There is also another software; http://www.macdisk.com/mden.php3 that I have no experience with.

The other option is sharing the drive through a network. http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/sharefwdrive.html gives some insight in that.
If your Mac and PC are on the same local network, you can use a drive in Mac OS Extended format, connect it to your Mac, then share it over your network with the PC. This beats "sneaker-netting" the drive between two computers on the same network.

And of course another solution is to find someone who uses a Mac (Pro), insert the Mac drive in his/her system, connect an external drive that is formatted FAT 32 (which both Mac and a PC recognize) and copy the contents of the EWQL Mac drive to the external FAT 32 drive. It's actually quite simple and fast IF you have access to a suitable Mac. As Michiel suggests, MacDrive (ca. $50) is a good solution as well, and certainly more practical for anyone who can't access a Mac to do a transfer...................frank

I hope you have a free day if you take this route... 'cause you'll need it. And FAT32 doesn't read as fast as NTFS either.

Man, I'm telling you, it's a conspiricy. Apple's taking control of you while youre ordering and making you click on the Mac version. This is the 3rd time I've heard of this happening... (I think I was the first). Glad you got it worked out though.
...

... WAIT... HOW DID YOU GET YOUR'S SO FAST??

I didn't even get a shpping email yet.

Oh well. I would do the exchange, who knows how the FAT32 thing would work or how PLAY would handle reading through a 3rd party program such as MacDrive or if it could access the samples fast enougyh.

Thanks for the replies guys really appreciate it.

I opted for an exchange in the end, as I don't have access to a Mac, and didn't want to risk any software *just* incase!

I could have sworn I pressed the Windows button and not the Macintosh, which is why I was so upset when I opened the package yesterday! Ah well, mistakes were made, hopefully to be resolved soon. I shipped it back off this morning.

As for delivery, yeah, very impressed! I ordered it Saturday evening, arrived at 9:30am Tuesday.
