My current midi controller is a good old Roland KR-277. I really enjoy playing it, but since it's a digital piano without mod/pitch, and since it's roughly the size of an actual upright piano in all 3 dimensions (which makes it difficult to place between my screens and my pc keyboard), as a midi controller it's far from ideal.
I drastically need to speed up my production process. Part of the plan is a entirely new 64-bit DAW, mainly to get around the RAM issues of my current 32-bit 4GB RAM configuration (make that 2GB usable RAM). The other part of the plan is getting some hardware that'll help me speed up the recording process. So this is what I'm looking for: - A keyboard with 61 keys. 61 seems ideal: less seems just too few for a fast workflow, and whenever I really need the full 88 range I can still use my Roland. - Mod- and pitchwheel - A sustainpedal - Some additional hardware faders I can link to other CC in Cubase - Budget of about €200 (USD 260): I don't want to make this a huge investment for the limited requirements. This is currently the solution I've come up with: - M-Audio Oxygen 61 - M-Audio SP1 or SP2 Does anyone have experience with any of these? The Oxygen: Opinions seem to vary. What I'm mostly concerned about is that the low price for this series may translate itself in lousy modwheel/pitchbend/velocity resolution... Anyone here who can comment on this? The sustain pedals: the SP2 looks a bit nicer than the SP1, but it does look like it may not be vary stable. I mean, like it could easily move or even tip over under my feet. Any feedback appreciated!
