Default Hans Zimmer's involvement in "Tron: Legacy"

Okay, so when are they gonna come out and admit Hans Zimmer's involvement in Tron: Legacy? Sure, Daft Punk produced the music, or performed it, but you can definitely hear heavy Zimmer elements. As a matter of fact, the track Outlands sounds like 100% Zimmer, and it ends with an Inception-like BWAAAAA!!!! I remember reading somewhere that Daft Punk noted a special thanks to Hans Zimmer, as well as few other composers (i don't remember exactly, but I believe they were John Powell, Harry Gregson-Williams, and James Newton-Howard)

So, they probably just thought "Tron:Legacy music by Daft Punk" would sell better... does anyone else feel slightly deceived? LOL

I agree that the score was heavily inspired by Hans Zimmer. To be honest it's understandable, seeing as Daft Punk aren't reaaally film composers, so they probably just sat there and listened to a lot of Hans Zimmer for inspiration.

I think the Inception-like BWAAAA is probably a coincidence though, as both scores were recorded at AIR Lyndhurst, by Geoff Foster, and he's got his own unique technique for recording brass.

I do agree that "Tron: Legacy music by Daft Punk" just sounds better and would probably sell better.

I think if you want a more obvious Zimmer rip-off, you could just listen to Steve Jablonsky's Transformers score.

It is no secret that they had help from Remote Control, even if they (Remote Control) aren't credited as composers.

Of course it's deceiving. Everything in Hollywood is based on deception, and music is no exception. Sorry to spoil it for you, but this industry works on bullshitting - like the industry of love: all pimping and make-believe. Welcome to the pop culture, where everything is fascination and glamor ("magic, mojo," etc). Anything goes, as long as there are people taking it seriously and wasting their time, money, and attention on it. True, show-business people provide you with pleasure in exchange, but why should you also expect sincerity and integrity from them? Does dishonesty bother you? Well, get used to it.

"You can take all the sincerity in Hollywood, place it in the navel of a fruit fly and still have room enough for three caraway seeds and a producer's heart."

Oh, the Transformers 2 score was definitely "inspired" by the Dark Knight score. I was laughing in the theater during the main titles, and my friends didn't understand why. I told them, "It's the Dark Knight theme with a couple of notes changed!" ... they didn't care, lol

Well what you said makes a lot of sense, though. Maybe it was just inspiration. Even I'm guilty of imitating Hans Zimmer. Like here: http://soundcloud.com/alexwalkersmith/adarkdream

It seems to me that you haven't only imitate Hans Zimmer but also the music he signed his name on. Very efficient: two rabbits with one bullet. Kudos, and keep it up!

Okay, it seems that the misconception comes from the assumption that Hans Zimmer wrote the music for the trailer for Inception. That was Zach Hempsey. So if Daft Punk stole it from anyone it would be him.

Don't post your entire studio in the signature area. We only need to know your DAW and what you have from EWQL.

you're right, and that trailer was a big inspiration for the actual score to Inception. But, Zach Hemsey's trailer music was inspired by other Hans Zimmer scores in the first place, so it all leads back to him, it seems.
