Default The Wolf

Hi everyone,

this is my last work with Gold XP and Stormdrum.
I've tried describing a pack chasing a prey.

It's dedicated to my beloved brother (you can see him in the picture below) who is no longer with me. I miss him so much.

The Wolf

As usual I'll appreciate your comments and advices.

Thanks

Hi Enrico,

I'm sorry about your friend. This always is a very sad event.

This dedication is a very visual / expressive piece. I can see the dogs running through changing landscapes, full of energy, companionship, determination and joy. I like the instrumentation. Percussion is excellent.

Thanks for sharing.

All the best,

Peer

Ecliptic,

You borther is beautifull. I can understand you missing him, I would also miss him.

About the track now

The begining is very dynamic and great sounding. I love the drums programming and specifically the choice to have so loud the hi-hats. It works for me marvelously.

The only thing I miss from the whole miss is the bass. You have double kicks in there, but nothing is supporting them. Even the Contrabasses pizz could help give
voice to the bass.

And I could also use some brass, here and there.

Composition wize it is just fine as it is.

But I can honestly 'see' a wilderness and wolves running, chasing the pray. Honestly.

I hope you don't mind my critique...

Hi,

sorry about your "brother"

Your music just fits. Stormdrum is so great! Very chasing percussion theme.

Cheers

Enrico my friend

Sorry to hear that about your brother - I am sure you miss him very much

I really enjoyed this track of yours. Very exciting and fast paced. Adds a lot of action and suspense right the way through.

I like what you did with the harps (I think it's harps, are they? )

The strings are wonderfully played and the pizz add a lot more affect too.

Nice music there Enrico - but it's no surprise

PS - I notice you are using the same SD patch as I did for my theme "The Journey"

Nice taste

Hi SVK,

thanks for your comments.
No backing vocals with the pizzicato strings, maybe it's an effect due to the whole of the instruments playing. The violins pizzicato are Gold XP Bartok Pizz and later Violas pizz (in the hook).

Cheers

Edit: I've loaded the song for answering about the used instruments and I was wrong (my memory lacks) violins pizzicatos are not "Bartok Pizz" patch, but it is "11V Col Legno RR X3".

Hi Peer,

my brother Picchio died on july 29 2005 and today I miss him like the first day.
He lived with me for 13 years and I'll never forget him.

Thanks for your comments.
What you see listening to my piece makes me happy, it's what I've tried drawing with this cue.

Cheers

Hi Nikolas,

Don't worry, I always appreciate all the critiques and advices. They help me improving.
You'r right about the bass, but I didn't want using non EW libraries.
I didn't use the pizz basses because of their reverb adding some kind of mess to the rhytmic part. Maybe I'll do another version with a bass (not from Gold XP) playing with the kick.
The brass are here (french horns, trombones and wagner tuben), but I've not highlighted them on purpose (except for the hits).

I've downloaded the last piece you've posted and I'm going to listen to it right now.

Thanks
