Default George Strezov - "Number 1000" OST - 08. Fire

Hey, guys,

long time - no see. Sorry 'bout that, lots of deadlines, projects and schedules lately, combined with some stuff with the university... so, long story short - I have to finish the official trailer for the movie "Number 1000" till the end of the month. There is a song by the bulgarian band P.I.F. that is featured at the end credits and its video clip is about to start showing up on the local music TV programmes. So, the release is soon (yey!) and I decided to put a track for you to listen.

Would be very, very glad to hear your opinions about it - composed three-or-four months ago, I recorded Kalina (violin), Vessy (cello) and Boyana (vocals at the end).

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,
George.

Hey George,

*adds to favourites*

long time, no post. Good to hear your work - great contrast and the buildup from 0:49 to 1:06 is something else. 1:39 - this is really effective, though I would liked to have heard the trombone (?) hits cut through a bit more with a little more edge and stridency (personal taste though - i love strident low brass)

Hello George!

I would have liked to be such a mature composer at your age. I didn't even have a computer and sample technology didn't exist yet. This is some great endeavor. So many people want to create this kind of music, but in your case it stands on its feet and sounds great. When you read this, there will be after sundown in Sofia, so Leka Nosh. S.

Great work. You seem to do these things effortlessly, make them look so easy. But the details must have take a lot of work and talent. E.g., just a little thing: the way the string effects stop at 1:33 and give a short bit of room: it's very effective. My only criticism would be that the brass/percussion sound at 0:50 sounds rather dry and weak in comparison to the rest. It could use a bit more room.

Another great track from you. You are a very talented guy. Hopefully the movie does well enough to really get your name out there. Best of luck

Hey, Richard!

thanks a bunch for your comment --- I totally agree that the brass is not very... convincing. I've been working with Hollywood Brass for a month now and definitely those brass hits sound terrible to my ears. Thanks for your feedback!

Hello, sylva! It's day here, so "dobar den!"

Thanks for your kind words, but don't think I am a "mature composer" yet - lots of flows out there and surely technology and samples help me hide some of the problems. Thanks for your encouraging words - will do my best to try to accomplish some of the things you pointed out!

Cheers,
George.

Hey, Theo,

actually it's the live playing that saved my *** Thanks for pointing the hit problem at 0:50 - I'd add "thin" to the list as well - didn't occur to me before.
Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks, mate --- do hope that it's received well. I love working with this director - he's so much into film music. If we had the budget, we'd have recorded a live orchestra... I hope we'll work again some day.

Cheers!

Excellent work, love the strings, there's real sense of drama and tension. I like the way it develops towards the end too with the vocal at 1.35, adds a nice twist!

Thank you! I think the strings sound good mostly because of those talented girls that played on top of my MIDI mockup, hehe.

Cheers!

I allways like listening to your music, it doesn't sound like most of the boring filmmusic. It is some kind of "fresh" and I like the orchestration.

so, as allways, good work!!!
