Default Hollywood Strings Diamond and positions

Peace, I have Hollywood Strings Diamond I am wondering will all the positions work in this diamond set?

Also will it run well if I use an external hard drive to run it soley on because I have a Mac Pro Intel and I have all four drives in it using something and I know HS suppose to have it's own hard drive with nothing on it.

Thanks

Hi man

I have it and all mic positions are in there. Regarding the hard drive, I know the one that comes with the library is not intended to be used for sampling streaming. I cannot help here. I just can say I have it installed in a 720 RPM HD and it works ok.

The library is just amazing.

cheers!

About the positions, do you mean the different microphones? Yes, they all work.

About the external drive, do you have eSata? I am running them off an external hard drive and that seems to work pretty decently overall. USB is probably not be any good, though you can give it a try running them off the external they were shipped on (though a docket, which has a USB connection).

If I remember correctly, this is not true anymore. When HS was released, they used a different drive than what they use today. The drive HS ships on nowadays should be perfectly okay for sample streaming.

Making a backup instead is still an important thing, though!

Edit:
And here's the official wording from the product page:

Quote:
Hollywood Strings comes on a high performance Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive (subject to change without notice). The Western Digital Caviar Black hard drive is suitable for using the content, however, as hard drives can fail, we recommend you make a backup of the data on another hard drive (it does not have to be as high performance as the supplied hard drive, it's simply for back up). In the event a replacement drive becomes necessary, however, we will replace the data at any time.

really?... that is new for me... I think that is great news . In that case the only issue would be related with the connectivity to your computer if it is external (USB 3.0 or firewire should be the best options maybe)

Look at my post again, I changed it and included EW's official statement.
The "this hard drive is intended for installation purposes only and not recommended for sample streaming" message disappeared from the page several months ago; they changed the hard drive

Ok, is your hard drive external or internal? That's what I am looking for an answer how well HS would run on an external hard drive. I will transfer as EW said from the hard drive they put it on to another.

Are you running your external drive firewire ? I have enough ports on my Mac to use the eSata, I gotta look into what the eSata drive is.

Oh no I can't use the hard drive it shipped on, I was like the very first ones to get that cheap drive that I would have to keep that as a back up and transfer it over to a better drive, so I don't have the drive of today.

The info for that was from when it first came out I believe, mine shipped on a Western Digital Caviar Black (non-energy saving) 7200rpm, so using that drive is fine.
