For those with a bit of knowledge it has always been possible to download soundcloud tracks even without the download button, but it has been automated: http://osxdaily.com/2012/03/12/downl...loud-song-mp3/. So now everybody can (and will) download your percious soundcloud tracks. Beware...

Well, I will be happy if a few people would listen to my tracks

No matter what flash player you use, there's almost always a way to rip the .mp3's from it. People have been doing it for ages.

As a web programmer, there is no 100% secure way to stop music from being downloaded. If data is being transferred, then you just have to intercept it. We programmers can make it harder, but we can never completely stop it from happening.

Colton's right--you can always capture something streaming through your sound card some way or another--protect your rights.

The streaming quality is the primary deterrent, especially now that they're switching all their players over to HTML5.

Exactly, the steamed quality is not that of the actual render thankfully, only thing to truely make it more likely for others to look away from downloading your work is a digital "watermark" on the steamed versions...

It's not that difficult for soundcloud to implement a player that works with an encrypted stream when downloading is forbidden. That would circumvent the problem for everyone except the people that have the software to intercept the audio stream.

I understand the desire to protect your music. In my case, however, my music is on soundcloud so people can listen to it. How and when they listen doesn't matter to me. Download away!

pkm I'm pretty much on your side. When I talk of protecting your rights, I just mean secure your copyright, but as far as I'm concerned once the copyright is registered people can do whatever the poop they want with it.
